Dry eye is very common in the adult population. It has been reported that as many as 60% of the population reports symptoms of dry eye. The prevalence of dry eye increases with age, especially after the age of 40, and with gender, a higher incidence is reported in females. Dry eye is also higher in contact lens wearers and following refractive surgery (LASIK). |
